Limited but Growing Options
Hua Hin has limited international school options compared to Bangkok, Phuket, or Chiang Mai. The town has 2-3 primary international schools and several bilingual/Thai schools. Many expat families choose to live in nearby Cha-am or commute to schools in Pranburi, or opt for Bangkok schooling with boarding options.
⚠️ Important Note for Families:
If quality international education is a priority, Bangkok, Phuket, or Chiang Mai offer significantly more options. Hua Hin is primarily a retirement destination, not a family expat hub. School options are adequate but limited.
Hua Hin Town
The oldest and most established international school in Hua Hin, founded in 2003. Follows British National Curriculum with Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels. Small class sizes with average 15-20 students per class. Popular with British and European expats. Facilities are adequate but not as extensive as Bangkok international schools.
Pranburi (20km south)
Part of the prestigious St. Andrews International School network (also in Bangkok, Sukhumvit). Opened 2017 with modern facilities including swimming pool, sports fields, and science labs. The newest and most international-standard school in the area. Offers boarding program for students. Higher tuition but better facilities than HHIS.
Cha-am (25km north)
Smaller international school in Cha-am offering mixed curriculum. More affordable than Hua Hin schools but with more limited facilities. Good option for families living in Cha-am area. English-language instruction with Thai cultural integration.
Several Thai schools offer English-language programs (EP) at much lower costs. Quality varies significantly.
Growing number of expat families homeschool in Hua Hin using online curricula and co-op arrangements.
Some families choose top Bangkok schools with weekly boarding, visiting Hua Hin on weekends.
Accredited online schools offer full international curricula from home with Hua Hin lifestyle.
